A Little Humor

Photo: Nothing better than growing up a ranch kid; creativity fuels orneriness! :D

I had to 'borrow' this cartoon from Hooves and Horns this AM due to an incident at the ranch today.  We have been sorting/moving/hauling cattle ever since we branded last week.  Trying to get pairs out to grass and sorted in the correct bunches for when we put bulls out here in a week or so.

Today, we had to load 41 head of shipping cows on the Semi and 32 calves, not too big of job since they were already sorted.  Boss Man and I had went ahead on the Ranger to corral the cattle while Hubby and Mr T brought the truck down to our set of corrals about 1.5 miles from the Home Place.  We got the calves sorted off from the cows and had the chute set in place when Hubby pulled in and got backed up to the chute.  So, all we had to do was load.  Mr T and Boss Man stay on the outside of the loading chute to help 'encourage' them to keep getting in the truck while Hubby and I get the cattle into the circle and then into the truck.  We first loaded all of the calves and then started loading the top deck with cattle.  All of sudden, we heard a distinct "OUCH" from the our two helpers and then some tears.  Boss Man had let Mr T play with the hotshot (a normal thing when we are loading cattle) and Mr T had managed to get the button pushed so the hotshot was electrified when he bumped Boss Man with it.  Whoops!  Everyone survived, Mr T felt really bad and wasn't quite sure what he had done but knew that he did something naughty.  We finished loading the cattle and sent Boss Man on his way.

Just another day in the ranching life around here!

Have a Blessed Day
